The company wanted to transcribe more customer calls so its quality team could review a larger share of them.
The speech model they were using worked well on clear English. Their actual calls were different. Agents and customers regularly switched between Hindi and English, and the centres handled four languages across different sites. Background noise also varied from call to call.
When the team tested the model against 2,000 calls that had already been transcribed for quality reviews, the word error rate was about 38%.
The recordings also had to stay on the company’s own infrastructure, so the team needed an approach that could run locally.
What we did:
